Aoi Collection (Accents for the home:
modern folding screens and hanging-scrolls) | "I
would like to introduce to those at home and abroad the beauty of Japan found
in such unique materials as handmade paper and silk kimono material." This
is why Emi Aoi always makes use of these special materials when creating her original

| | After
graduating from college in 1983, Emi Aoi put the knowledge acquired from her
marketing and management business major to work and started her own company,
producing promotion videos for overseas audiences on behalf of Japanese companies,
and promoting artists both in Japan and abroad. She acted as an international
friendship ambassador for the city of Nagoya in Japan, was selected as Miss
Nagoya in 1983, and has participated in various sister city exchanges, visiting
such cities as Los Angeles, Sydney, and Nanjing (China).
| | |
| | |
| She holds a particular interest
in international exchange, with her eyes set on the intrinsic value to be
found in the exchange of "information, goods, and culture." She
has directed the planning and producing of many international conventions,
as well as domestic and overseas art exhibitions.
| | |
| | |
| Through these kinds of international
events, as she viewed her own culture from a foreign perspective, Emi Aoi's
personal interest grew in the unique aspects of Japanese artistic materials
and techniques, and she began to study ink painting and Japanese traditional
mounting techniques. She later added folding screens and hanging-scrolls to
her repertoire of original artwork design and began to present her work to
the public with personal exhibitions in such countries as Japan, Taiwan, Hawaii,
and Italy. since 1993, the Emi Aoi Collection has been established as an interior
decorator brand in Hawaii, with folding screens, interior decorations, accessories,
and other original Japanesque designs being sold in the Liberty House Department
Store and interior decorating shops.
